Parelweefsel

The default modern Gi weave. Lighter than single weave, more durable than gold weave, and IBJJF approved for competition. Available in 350, 450, and 550 GSM. Most academies select 450 GSM for daily training because it balances weight, durability, and grip resistance.

Kristalweefsel

A heavier traditional weave with a tighter knit. Lasts longer but feels stiffer in the first 30 wash cycles. Preferred by some old school players and instructors who want a Gi that looks formal on the mat.

Ripstop

A reinforced weave used in the pants and sometimes the jacket. Lighter, dries faster, and resists rips at high stress points. Many academies pair a pearl weave jacket with ripstop pants for the best balance.

Enkelvoudig geweven

The original BJJ weave. Lighter and cheaper than pearl, but wears out faster under heavy training loads. Suitable for warm climates and competition only Gis.
